The Modern Country Home Design

Whenever we reveal a design for a project…I get a little giddy. It is honestly like Christmas for me every…single…time.

I love seeing the client’s face when we show them the possibility for their space. On this blog post, I wanted to share with you the living room and kitchen component of “The Modern Country Home” design.

We are playing with the perfect balance between modern/rustic, classic, and timeless. There are so many fun textures in this space and it has warmth to it. This was exactly our goal when creating the living room space which sits to your right when you come in the front door.

A very open floor concept, this large space is home to the living room/dining room/ and kitchen. We wanted everything to feel intentional and well planned out. Keeping walkways open so it didn’t feel crammed was one of the biggest things we were keeping in mind. You want a minimum of 36″ for walkways, however we always try for more.

The Kitchen

The client wanted a mix of cabinets in this space, both wood and black cabinetry. We had a really fun time working with this space. On the “east” wall, we have a bar with an industrial black, steel china hutch on one end.

We are utilizing a warm walnut and black cabinet finish. This combo is absolutely stunning and provides so much warmth to the space. We wanted to include a fun backdrop that wasn’t too wild but still had some interest. We opted for a 2 x 6″ ceramic tile with some movement to draw your eye towards it without a ton of pattern. The countertop will be a pretty white stone with black and gold veining. All just a beautiful mix!

The Pantry

The other fabulous part of this house is the large walk-through pantry for plenty of storage. We wanted a continuation of the kitchen cabinetry but adding in a fun floor tile. This space will continue on to the mudroom and powder room.

I can’t wait to share more of the design with you! Until then…let me know your thoughts on the “Modern Country Home”

  1. Please post pictures of the black steel door. There is a place off of I-25 and Mulberry here in Ft. Collins that has the dreamiest steal doors I have ever seen. Love your posts and colors. Bless you and your family this beautiful spring season!
